PCAN-Router: Programmable CAN Module for Flexible Message Routing

EAN: IPEH-002210

What is the PCAN-Router dual-channel CAN module and its features?

The PCAN-Router is a dual-channel CAN module whose NXP LPC21 series programmable microcontroller provides the option of using the CAN messages on both channels on a flexible basis. This gives a whole range of options for manipulation, evaluation, filtering, and routing of CAN messages.

Using the programming library and the GNU compiler for C and C++, a firmware is created and then transferred to the module via CAN. At delivery, the PCAN-Router is equipped with a standard firmware that forwards CAN messages 1:1 between both channels at 500 kbit/s. The corresponding source code is included as example in the scope of supply.

The module is installed in an aluminum profile casing, and is shipped in versions with two D-Sub connectors or a screw-terminal strip.

Frequently Asked Questions

1 How can I customize the PCAN-Router's functionality?

The PCAN-Router features an NXP LPC21 series programmable microcontroller, allowing for custom firmware development. You can create firmware using a programming library and the GNU compiler for C and C++, which is then transferred to the module via CAN. This enables flexible manipulation, evaluation, filtering, and routing of CAN messages.

2 What is the PCAN-Router's default functionality out of the box?

At delivery, the PCAN-Router is equipped with a standard firmware. This firmware forwards CAN messages 1:1 between both channels at a speed of 500 kbit/s. The source code for this standard firmware is included as an example in the scope of supply.

3 What physical configurations and connector types are available for the PCAN-Router?

The PCAN-Router is housed in an aluminum profile casing and is available with different connector options. You can choose versions with two D-Sub connectors (IPEH-002210, IPEH-002211) or a screw-terminal strip, also referred to as a Phoenix connector (IPEH-002210-P). An opto-decoupled D-Sub version is also offered.

4 Where can I find technical specifications and documentation for the PCAN-Router?

Technical documentation for the PCAN-Router, such as the PEAK-SysE_IPEH-002210.pdf, can be found in the "Files and media" section on the product page. This resource provides detailed information about the module.
