The Saleae Logic Pro 8 is a USB Logic Analyzer designed to record and examine both digital and analog signals. It connects to a PC via USB and utilizes the Saleae Logic Software to capture and display data for inspection.
It helps by tracking activity on digital I/O used for communication (e.g., Serial, I2C, SPI) during testing. Developers can then play back the recording to visualize firmware behavior, compare it against expectations, and identify the root cause of problems or confirm correct procedures.
The device features eight digital inputs, which can also be used as eight analog inputs. It supports maximum digital sample rates of 500 MSPS on 4 channels or 100 MSPS on 8 channels, and analog sample rates of 50 MSPS on 3 channels or 12.5 MSPS on 8 channels, requiring USB 3.0 for higher rates.
The Saleae Logic Pro 8 supports a wide range of protocols including Serial, SPI, I2C, Atmel SWI, Biss-C, CAN, DMX-512, HD44780, HDLC, I2S, JTAG, LIN, MDIO, MIDI, Manchester, Modbus, 1-Wire, PS/2 Keyboard & Mouse, SMBus, SWD, Synchronous Parallel, USB, UNI/O, and CUSTOM protocols.
