LA4000 Series Logic Analyzer
Description
68 to 136 channels, 4GHz timing, 32Gb of capture memory
When a 34-channel logic analyzer isn't wide enough — a full parallel bus, a multi-drop backplane, or two or three protocol domains you need in the same trigger — the LA4000 is Acute's answer. It carries the same 4GHz timing engine as the smaller TravelLogic line up to 136 channels wide, so scaling up in channel count doesn't cost you timing resolution or trace depth. It's also the direct successor to the LA3000+, now retired from Acute's lineup: same class of instrument, roughly double the timing resolution and channel-for-channel memory.
Why engineers reach for it
- 4GHz timing resolution and 400MHz synchronous state analysis on every channel, not just a subset — no channel-count/speed trade-off as you scale up
- 32Gb of onboard capture memory (2Gb max record length per channel), enough to hold a long boot sequence or an intermittent fault window without truncating
- Shares Acute's full protocol decode and trigger library with the rest of the line — I2C, SPI, UART, CAN 2.0B/CAN-FD, MIPI I3C 1.1.1, eMMC 4.5, NAND Flash, SD 3.0/SDIO 2.0, and 100+ bus decodes in total — so a capture setup built on a TravelLogic carries over directly to a wider board
- E and B interface variants at both the 68- and 136-channel points, so channel count and connector/interface style can be matched independently to what a given fixture already uses
Where it earns its keep
- Backplane and multi-drop bus debug, where the limiting factor is channel count rather than raw sample rate
- Board bring-up on designs that mix several protocol domains — I2C housekeeping, SPI flash, and a parallel NAND interface, for example — captured together in one trigger instead of three separate sessions
- Migrating an existing LA3000+ deployment forward: comparable channel counts and workflow, materially more timing resolution and memory per channel
