ADP Series Hi-Voltage Differential Probes

Acute ADP series hi-voltage differential probe
Description
Three voltage tiers, two bandwidths, battery or USB power — twelve ways to safely put a scope on a floating node

A standard scope probe assumes its ground clip is near earth potential. On a gate driver, a motor phase, or anything referenced to a switching rail, that assumption is what breaks the probe — or the scope behind it. The ADP series is Acute's line of isolated differential probes for exactly that case: three input-voltage ratings, two bandwidths, and a choice of battery or USB power, so the probe can be matched to the rail rather than over- or under-specified for it.

Why engineers reach for it

  • Three input-voltage tiers — 700V, 1400V, and 3500V — mean you're not paying for isolation headroom you don't need, or worse, under-rating a probe against a rail that exceeds it
  • 25MHz and 100MHz bandwidth options at every voltage tier, so a slow power-electronics switching waveform and a faster gate-drive edge can each get the probe suited to the signal rather than one bandwidth for everything
  • Battery-powered (-B) models run untethered from mains, useful when the DUT itself is floating and you don't want a ground-referenced power supply anywhere near the probe; USB-powered (-U) models trade that isolation for continuous, unattended operation
  • Consistent 10Mohm / 1pF input impedance across the whole line, so switching between voltage tiers as a design evolves doesn't also change your loading assumptions

Where it earns its keep

  • Gate-drive and switching-node measurement on power converters, motor drives, and other designs where the measurement point isn't referenced to earth
  • Any bench measurement where a ground-referenced probe would either trip a fault, saturate the front end, or simply give a wrong reading because the "ground" clip isn't at ground
  • Field and production-line measurement where battery operation removes one more cable — and one more potential ground-loop path — from the setup

Input impedance is 10Mohm / 1pF across the entire line. Tell us the rail voltage and edge speed you're measuring and we'll confirm the right model — including whether -B or -U power suits your setup.
