P&E Microcomputer Systems is a hardware and software development tools for microcontrollers.

P&E’s Cyclone Programmers

P&E Microsystem’s Cyclones are versatile production programmers that can be fully automated or used in stand-alone mode. Together they support a wide variety of NXP and other manufacturer devices.

The Cyclone Universal is a full-featured, next-generation Cyclone that performs in-circuit flash programming, debug, and test of these

P&E Microcomputer Systems’ Cyclone for ARM® devices is designed for in-circuit flash programming of ARM Cortex™-M devices from:

  • NXP: Kinetis, LPC
  • Atmel: SAMxxx
  • Cypress: PSoC® 4
  • Infineon: XMC
  • Maxim: MAX716xx
  • Silicon Labs: EFM32, SiM3
  • STMicroelectronics: STM32
  • Texas Instruments: Stellaris™ LM3S/LM4
  • Toshiba: TX00, TX03, & TX04

Multilink debug probes allow a PC access to the Background Debug Mode (BDM) or JTAG interface on wide range of ARM Cortex and 8-16-/32-bit devices, in order to halt normal processor execution and use the PC to control the processor. The user can then directly control the target’s execution, read/write registers and memory values, debug code on the processor, and program internal or external FLASH memory devices.

Supported manufacturers include NXP, STMicroelectronics, Cypress, Infineon, Silicon Labs, and many others. Multilink connects between a USB port on a Windows machine and the standard debug connector on the target. Microcontrollers are supported via the multiple headers located under a flip lid on the Multilink case. Ribbon cables suitable for a variety of architectures are included.

In Stand-Alone Mode, the Cyclone Universal is configured and loaded with one or more programming images. The Cyclone features a million-press Start button and 4.3” touchscreen LCD for manual control and configuration which allow it to operate independently of the PC. Cyclone operations may also be automated from a PC via the Automated Control Package SDK. The Cyclone and the target being programmed may be local to the PC or connected remotely via Ethernet. Multiple Cyclones on your network can easily be detected and controlled from the same PC.

P&E MICROCOMPUTER SYSTEMS
Flash programmers and debug probes for Arm and other devices What is JTAG programming JTAG stands for Joint Test Access Group is an interface which allows debugging, testing, and programming embedded devices.  Hardware engineers developing a typical embedded board will normally have the JTAG interface to allow the software and test engineers way to perform their tasks – debugging and testing.  Once the product moves into productions, JTAG is used to program the flash memory of the final product.
P&E MICROCOMPUTER SYSTEMS, located outside Boston, MA provides solutions for both development and production of embedded solutions. First, the Multilink probe allows the user to connect to the target, and using various IDE’s such as Keil µvision, download code to the target hardware and debug the code. The Multilink probe uses the built-in breakpoint and offers unlimited software breakpoints. It also allows single stepping, monitor variables etc. Multilink is cost effective and allows the users to include it in the production floor once development is completed.
P&E MICROCOMPUTER SYSTEMS also offers The Cyclone Universal. This is a versatile stand-alone in-circuit programmer for NXP 8-/16-/32-bit devices as well as ARM Cortex -based devices. Communication with the PC occurs via Ethernet, USB, or Serial Port. Once the Cyclone is configured, programming operations may be completed in one touch without a PC, or automated in conjunction with a PC. The Cyclone may also be used as a debug probe via USB, Ethernet, or Serial communications, and is supported in NXP’s CodeWarrior and Kinetis Design Studio, P&E’s GDB Server, and many commercial development tools.
The Cyclone’s flexible set-up and intuitive software allow for a smooth transition to an easily scalable production programming environment. The Cyclone has over 1GB of non-volatile memory, which allows for the onboard storage of a practically unlimited # of programming images. Enhanced security features include the ability to restrict access to individual programming images based on programming count, date range, etc.
